About Soham & his Wanderlust

Let me first introduce myself. I am Soham Chandra. A Bengali North-Calcuttan in his mid-twenties. Though by profession I belong to the field of Finance, but my paramount passion is History. I am not talking about the routine academic syllabus of the subject. I am talking about the 'Past'. I strongly believe that behind everything that we see in our society, be it a structure or a place or a ritual, there is an untold story, sometimes fascinating, sometimes not but always worth knowing.

WANDERLUST is just an attempt to uncover those narratives.

Moreover as a true-blue bong, I am also obsessed about this City of Joy. Calcutta has some terrific historical and cultural treasures hidden in its roads/streets/lanes and by-lanes.
  • 99.99% Calcuttans knew about Victoria Memorial but do they know about a Marble Water Fountain that carries generations of Greek legacy?...
  • We are aware about the fact from school days, that Widow Remarriage was initiated by Pandit Iswarchandra Vidyasagar but are we aware of the house in which the first widow remarriage was held or Who were the bride&groom or Who were the invitees?...
  • Why the Lower Circular Road named after Jagdish Bose?...What was so special about his cremation?...
  • Have you ever visited a restaurant that is serving Calcutta's Taste Buds for more than 125 years through 4 generations?...
To get the answers of the above and many more like these, you have to visit my blog regularly, on every Saturday from 6th June, 2015 onwards.

Whenever you are visiting my Blog or going through any of my story, feel free to post any comment or suggestion as it will help me to enrich, grow and serve you better.

You can also reach me at my mail id or mobile provided in the side bar of the blog with any query, point or suggestion.

WANDERLUST will not be confined to Calcutta, I would venture outside the city soon.

So let's begin our journey to know the Unknown...
